"When the Land Was His" by
Arnold Friberg - Native American Art
Arnold Friberg has always felt a deep respect for Native
American cultures both in the U.S. and in Canada. After all of his
work with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada feels like his
second home. It has been a great honor to him that Native Americans
visiting his studio have often commented that his paintings have
"strong medicine." He views "When the Land Was His" as a
companion to his equestrian portrait of Prince Charles, "Each
represents royalty in his own domain." Not an action picture,
this is a tribute to the beauty and ingenuity of Indian craftsmanship,
achieved with simple, available native materials.
